Day 2: Proverbs 2

Summary:

As we travel through life, we will encounter the “wrong” kind of people—people of the world who will do their best by any means (flattery, deception, and deceit) to draw us away from God and encourage us to follow them further into the ways of the world. Solomon tells us that these people’s ways are “crooked” and that they are lost because they “delight” in wickedness. Of course, God has provided us with a way to identify these people—simply turn to His Word! Study it, listen to it, and keep it in your mind and on the table of your heart. This will give us the wisdom to discern our friends from our enemies; God will protect us from making the wrong choices and from following the wrong path.

In the King James Version, Solomon uses the word froward to describe these people. In our modern dictionary, this word defines a “stubborn or contrary person”; Biblically, froward means “habitually disobedient”.
